Dr. Irfan Khan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Marine Engineering Technology with a curtesy joint appointment with the Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M College Station. Dr. Khan is an affiliate faculty member with the TAMU Energy Institute and the TEES Smart Grid Center. Before joining TAMU in 2018, Dr. Khan received a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University USA. He is also the director of the Clean And Resilient Energy Systems (CARES) Lab, which focuses on the cyber security, reliability, and sustainability of cyber-physical systems, including electric energy systems, drones, marine vessels, and biomedical systems. Dr. Khan has made remarkable contributions to cybersecurity, renewable energy, microgrids, and autonomous systems. Moreover, he has been working vigorously in the domain of cyber-physical security for the past three years. During this period, he has developed a robust Intrusion Detection System for detecting cyber-attacks on offshore energy systems with an overall accuracy of 95.44%. Furthermore, His expertise in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) domain is well depicted from his publications on different deep learning models. Currently, Dr. Khan is involved in several cyber security and AI projects to achieve his vision of secured cyber-physical systems.
